  • A narrative review of telemedicine and its adoption across specialties
CONCLUSIONS: The data shows that telemedicine uptake varies by specialty and condition due to the need for physical exams. In-person visits still dominate new patient visits despite increased telemedicine use. Telemedicine cannot fully replace in-person care but has increased visit volume and is secure. The adoption of telemedicine is higher in medical practices than in […]
  • Automated Measurement and Three-Dimensional Fitting of Corneal Ulcerations and Erosions via AI-Based Image Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The developed algorithm is capable of reliably providing exact values for corneal lesion sizes. Additionally, three-dimensional modeling of the corneal surface is essential for an accurate measurement of lesion sizes. Besides telemedicine applications, this approach harbors great potential for clinical trials where exact quantitative and observer-independent measurements are essential.
  • Exploring behavioral intention to use telemedicine services post COVID-19: a cross sectional study in Saudi Arabia
CONCLUSION: The findings underline the importance of enhancing health literacy and consumer attitudes toward telemedicine, particularly during the healthcare digital transformation we are experiencing globally. The indication for the use of virtual care should be based on a risk model for patient prioritization. Likewise, the analysis of the main barriers and benefits is fundamental to […]
  • Post-COVID-19 cognitive symptoms in patients assisted by a teleassistance service: a retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSION: In this retrospective cohort of patients with mostly mild COVID-19, cognitive symptoms were present in 23.7% of patients with COVID-19 at 12 weeks after infection. Female sex, fatigue, depression and the need to seek in-person care during acute COVID-19 were the risk factors independently associated with this condition.

  • Automatic Skeleton Segmentation in CT Images Based on U-Net
Bone metastasis, emerging oncological therapies, and osteoporosis represent some of the distinct clinical contexts which can result in morphological alterations in bone structure. The visual assessment of these changes through anatomical images is considered suboptimal, emphasizing the importance of precise skeletal segmentation as a valuable aid for its evaluation. In the present study, a neural […]
